Potassium chloride (KCl)

The interaction between potassium hydroxide and hydrogen chloride formed potassium chloride (KCL). It is used as a raw material for potassium sulfate fertilizers, which is economical. Potassium chloride is in the form of powder or crystal with white or pink colors. It is a suitable alternative substance to potassium sulfate fertilizers. This fertilizers is classified based on the size of their constituent particles. The particles with a size of 0.2 to 0.8 mm, 0.8 to 2 mm, and 1.2 to 3.5 are standard, large, and granular respectively.

This salt can be significantly dissolved in water and easily consumed by plants. By irrigating agricultural lands, potash fertilizers become soluble compounds in the soil, and their solubility also increases with increasing temperature. This product is more suitable than other potassium fertilizers like potassium sulfate for plant nutrition because it has a cheaper cost and a considerable amount in nature.

More than 90% of global potash production is used to feed plants in agriculture. Farmers usually apply KCL on the soil surface before planting crops in crop rows.Potassium chloride is applied in the drilling industry. This substance is used as an inhibitor in Chile and Marley formations and prevents the swelling of clays by the filtering of drilling mud.
